In issue 316 of SFX Magazine, Flame Tree Press took out a one-page ad and…The Goblets Immortal happened to display prominently. I was so excited, I ran out to Barnes and Noble and scoured the shelves until I found it. When I did, I nearly screamed. I almost humiliated my mom by stopping passersby and saying, “Hey, this is my book!”
Okay, so I indulged a little. At the check-out, I asked the salesperson how she was doing. She responded in kind, and I told her, “I’m doing GREAT. My book is in here!” as I tapped on the mag in front of me. She grew very excited and said, “You wrote a book?” Long story short, the very polite and kind salesperson asked me the title two times and said it sounded like something she would like. The best part? She said she would pre-order it later!
Guys, I don’t know if she bought it, but that’s not the point. I am STOKED that I had the nerve to speak up about my writing in public. Normally my friend Ruthie is the one who says, “She’s a published author!” after a few moments of silence among new acquaintances. ❤ her.
I am an author. I am an AUTHOR! …The magazine says so 😉
Keep your nose in a book,
Beth
