I’ve noticed a trend where people have an opinion about the quality of something when they have little or no experience with it. For example: there’s a movie out now, theaters only, and someone mentioned that it was so dull, they “turned it off.” Um. How does one turn off a movie in a theater unless they’re the projectionist? It’s pretty obvious they misspoke or are lying.
This happened (and is still happening) a lot with The Rings of Power show. To be fair, maybe they watched an episode and decided it wasn’t for them. But to say the whole show is stupid and no good if you haven’t seen the whole thing? That’s kind of weird. And why would you watch it all the way through if you hated the first one or two episodes? Some people might, but why?
I’m not saying the movie is perfect (I haven’t watched it) and I’m not saying the show is perfect (it isn’t.) But hating on something so much and going as far as to say, “Anyone who said they enjoyed this is lying” like I have seen online is off-putting and tiresome. But the main thing? LET PEOPLE LIKE THINGS. It’s not going to personally harm you if someone enjoys something you don’t.
As for me, stupid or not, saving my opinion about something until I’ve experienced it is the route I choose.
