May Miscellany – Music and a Writing Update

I’ve been listening to new music lately rather than listening to the old playlist. It was getting tiring, playing the same LEAH and Imagine Dragons songs over and over again. Thankfully, someone introduced me to the band Cellar Darling. Celtic metal, y’all—quite a bit heavier than LEAH! I highly recommend giving their album “This is the Sound” a listen. My favorite songs include “Avalanche,” “Six Days,” “…High Above These Crowns,” and “Starcrusher.” Give them a listen on YouTube and let me know what you think. The only thing is that I keep finding myself paying more attention to the songs than I am to my writing, lol.

Speaking of writing…

“Duo Book” (working title) was up to around 46,000 words. But then I realized over 4,000 of those words needed to go. Now I’m down closer to 41,000 words (41,500-ish, I believe.) I sometimes work better when I go back and reread what I’ve written to make certain I didn’t make any huge tonal/style shifts, and I edit while I’m there, hehehe. So, in short, I am around 9,000 words behind schedule *insert screaming here*

It’s all good though: I still plan on finishing draft one in September or October and having a final draft to present to Flame Tree in January or February of 2022. *jazz hands*

What’re you up to? Any good bands I should know about? Let me know in the comments!

Keep your nose in a book,
Beth

P.S. This blog *might* not be updated as frequently, just a heads up. I want to make sure I’m putting in enough fiction-writing time.
